My Heart
My heart feels raw like a days old wound
That refuses ever to heal
Under the smile I put on my face
Are emotions I don’t want to feel
Sometimes it seems it’s all gotten better
And I’ve moved on from the pain
Then something happens to rip the scab off
And I’m back to broken again
I don’t want to be in this place anymore
I want to be made whole
I don’t want to feel like shattered pieces
Are all that’s left of my soul
I know that Jesus has a way through
I believe His power is real
I just don’t seem to know how to reach out
How to let Him fully heal
Something tells me deep inside
That He has so much more
There are lessons here I need to learn
That I’ve never even glimpsed before
That where the rawness of my heart now lies
Something entirely new belongs
Forged through the pain I’ve felt in His hands
What once was will be made twice as strong
